The heat pump helps optimize the return temperature in the solar plant during months with the least amount of sunshine and enables the solar collectors to harvest more energy, thereby increasing overall efficiency. Likewise, the energy from the solar heating system helps improve the heat pump's performance during those periods, where it has the greatest value for the overall efficiency.
This integration boosts the efficiency of the solar heating plant while also improving the COP (Coefficient Of Performance). Calculations show that the yield from an existing solar heating plant can be increased by between 8% and 28% through intelligent integration of solar and heat pump systems.
