8,260 m2 lid solution for PTES, Denmark
Aalborg CSP has supplied and installed a new lid solution for Dronninglund Fjernvarme's existing PTES system, as the original lid was damaged due to moisture accumulation. The new lid design handles air, water and moisture accumulation in an efficient way, which minimizes the heat loss in the storage thereby increasing the efficiency and reliability of the complete system.

Aalborg CSP received the order to design and deliver a 11,000 m2 insulating lid for a 70,000 m3 Pit Thermal Energy Storage system in Høje Taastrup, Denmark. The patented lid design prevents accumulation of air, water and moisture inside the insulation in an efficient way increasing the efficiency and reliability of the storage and ensuring long-term durability.

In April 2020, a new lid solution was installed on a 70,000 m3 Pit Thermal Energy Storage (PTES) at Marstal district heating plant. The lid is of a new design, which prevents moisture accumulation and enables easier dewatering of the surface ensuring lower heat loss and contributing to higher efficiency and reliability of the complete energy system.

In Langkazi in the southern part of Tibet, a 15,000 m3 Pit Thermal Energy Storage (PTES) system enables storing of excess solar heat supplying the city with both stable and sustainable heating. By storing excess solar heat produced during summer and releasing it during wintertime, solar heat is able to cover more than 90% of the city’s annual heating needs.
